Microloan Empowerment

A Partnership Project with Hope Care Rescue Mission

Throughout the Spring semester of 2021, RISE UC worked to fundraise over $3,000 to provide 14 acid violence survivors with microloans. This project was a collaboration with Hope Care Rescue Mission an acid violence nonprofit organization in Uganda. You can find links to their website and Facebook page in Quick Links.

In May 2021, we were able to send over the money we raised. These funds will cover administrative costs, a two-day Business Skills Training, monitoring trips and microloans for 14 acid violence survivors.

Uganda is currently under lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, we have been able to work with RISE to support acid attack survivors during the lockdown. To learn more, you can visit RISE's Instagram page under Quick Links.

COVID-19 Fundraiser

A Partnership Project with ASTITWA Nepal and End Acid Violence Uganda.

In the Summer of 2020, RISE UC worked in collaboration with ASTITWA Nepal and End Acid Violence (located in Uganda) to support acid violence survivors during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

RISE UC was able to raise over $1,500 using completely online fundraising techniques for this project. These funds provided acid violence survivors and their loved ones "food packs" which the organizations (ASTITWA Nepal and End Acid Violence) assembled and distributed. We raised over our original goal of $1,000 to aid 21 survivors and their families.

Nepal Notebook Project

A Partnership Project with ASTITWA Nepal

RISE UC's first ever Partnership Project was in collaboration with ASTITWA Nepal, an acid violence non-profit organization in Nepal. ASTITWA Nepal is still one of RISE's partner centers!

RISE UC raised $500 for ASTITWA Nepal to purchase materials to assemble and print notebooks like the one shown below. The notebooks were then sold in the market and proceeds went to ASTITWA Nepal to cover costs of running their organization and to support programming for survivors.

This project was so successful that ASTITWA Nepal is working with another RISE Chapter this year to recreate it!
